Jakub Przybycień

Jakub Przybycień, a Polish conductor and violinist, is distinguished by his exceptional experience from the orchestral perspective, as well as his charismatic and energetic conducting style. Musicians worldwide admire his clear character and inspiring musical ideas.

In the upcoming 2023/24 season, he assumes the role of an assistant conductor to Maestro Ludovic Morlot with The Barcelona Symphony Orchestra and the National Orchestra of Catalonia. Simultaneously, he serves as The Mills Williams Junior Fellow in Conducting at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. His achievements include being a finalist in the Donatella Flick Conducting Competition in March 2023, where he conducted the London Symphony Orchestra, and reaching the finals of the Berlin Critical Orchestra Masterclasses in 2022. In 2021, he was honored with the Neeme Järvi Prize at the Gstaad Conducting Academy.

Jakub Przybycień is currently pursuing his Master's degree in Specialized Music Performance at The Zurich University of the Arts under the guidance of Professors Johannes Schlaefli and Christoph-Mathias Mueller. He also serves as the principal conductor of the Zürcher Orchester Sozietät and holds a scholarship from the Forum Dirigieren.

To hone his conducting skills, Jakub has participated in many masterclasses led by eminent conductors, including Neeme, Paavo, and Kristjan Järvi, Marin Alsop, Jaap van Zweden, Peter Eötvös, Thomas Hengelbrock, Jorma Panula, and Michael Sanderling. His impressive portfolio includes collaborations with renowned orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra, Balthasar-Neumann-Ensembles, Sinfonie Orchester Biel Solothurn, Luzerner Sinfonieorchester, Berner Symphonieorchester, Musikkollegium Winterthur, Baltic Sea Philharmonic, Philharmonie Baden-Baden, Philharmonie Hradec Králové, and Zielona Góra Philharmonic Orchestra. In the upcoming season, Jakub will make his debut with the Łódź Philharmonic, the Nürnberger Symphoniker, and the Bratislava Symphony Orchestra, among others. Jakub Przybycień's musical journey began at age of six, focusing on the violin. He achieved recognition in numerous national and international violin competitions and was a member of the prestigious European Union Youth Orchestra, learning from renowned figures such as Bernard Haitink, Manfred Honeck, Noah Bendix-Balgley, and Lorenza Borrani. His violin studies under Professor Monika Urbaniak Lisik at the Hochschule der Künste in Bern culminated in both Bachelor's and Master's degrees with distinction. Simultaneously, he embarked on his conducting career, earning a Bachelor's degree in orchestral conducting with distinction at the Academy of Music in Wrocław (PL) under Professor Marek Pijarowski. Jakub Przybycień completed his Master's studies in conducting under Professor Johannes Schlaefli at The Zurich University of the Arts.
